
My Story
Makāula Nakae’s artistic journey began at age 19 when he worked as an illustrator. He quickly transitioned into graphic design, working primarily in the advertising industry for print collateral.
In 1991, during a visit to Peru, Makāula experienced a sudden spiritual and psychic awakening, becoming a Psychic Channel. This profound experience marked the beginning of his journey into spiritual practices. He began teaching workshops on Spiritual-related Workshops in 1995, such as Opening Channel and Energy Healing for Meta-Human and Clair-Senses Development.
Makāula’s expertise extended to gaming, which he designed for Nintendo America’s publications, Nintendo Power Magazine and Strategy Guides. His talents led him to roles as an art director and editor in Waikiki’s advertising sector and tourist publications, and he also contributed to the Hawaiian Name Project, worked with anthropologist, Hawaiian language and literature professor Rubellite Kawena Johnson, Living Treasure of Hawaiʻi.
Makāula’s journey is marked by a blend of artistic talent and profound spiritual experiences, contributing to a unique and diverse body of work that spans various genres and mediums. As a book author, Makāula writes, designs covers, and includes illustrations and photos in his creations.
Makāula is also a P.W.A. (Person with AIDS), having survived HIV/AIDS since 2000.
